Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
Daniel Wass opened 2020 with his fourth assist of the LaLiga campaign when he set up Maxi Gómez at Mestalla, for the Uruguayan striker to score the match winning goal. His clinical ball in from the right wing was pounced upon to be converted in the 27th minute.
"I'm very happy with the pass, but more so because of the great goal that Maxi Gómez scored from it. I knew that he always gets into the box, and if I sent in a good cross, he was going to be there to get on the end of it," Wass told VCF Media.
Previous beneficiaries in 2019/20 have been Kevin Gameiro, Ferran Torres and Carlos Soler and Gómez added his name to the list of players provided with assists by the precise Danish utility man.
Last season, Wass gave three assists in LaLiga: Two to Rodrigo and one to Santi Mina. He has already bested that total, but is more pleased with how the team performed overall against Eibar.
“We played well in the first half. At half time we said that we had to keep going in the same way, and we had chances to score a second or third goal. It wasn't to be, but we won and kept a clean sheet, which is also important. It's a very positive path to be on ahead of the second half of the LaLiga season."
